over the last 18 months we have been developing our own brand of clearcoats and primers, first to come off the production line is our new Custom Crystal Clearcoat, and now available to order direct,
This 2K clearcoat is crystal clear when mixed, it has no yellow tint like some cheap clears, its a high end product designed to make life easy for you
This clearcoat is a 2k anti-scratch with ceramic properties, it was developed to my spec, which was:
-fast cure
-ultra high gloss
-anti scratch
-no thinners needed (this is what can cause alot of solvent pop)
-rock hard when cured
-crystal clear - (no yellowy tint to the clear)
possible 12-18 months of visiting the chemist and trial and error, and this is the finished product
the mix ratio is 2 parts clear to 1part hardener, no thinners or reducer needed
in controled temperature or booth it has a 3-5 min flash off for other conditions please allow longer times
Application
Apply half to three quarter coverege coat and allow to flash for 3-5 mins (at controlled temperature 20-26 degrees)
then apply 2 full wet coats ensuring coverage, allow 3-5 min flash between coats
-cure time at room temperature 24 hours for de-nib and polish and leave for a further 24 hours, colder environments please allow longer cure times
-booth 35-40min @ 55-60 degrees and can be de-nibed and polished once cooled and ready to go
buff and polish is recommended within 24-36 hours as the ceramic and anti scratch properties start to kick in and can be difficult to polish, but i have buffed and polished upto a week after application with no problems (experienced polisher)
the idea behind the clearcoat was, that once you have finished your artwork basically you want the job done and out and get payed, and for most this can take upto a week, so if you can cut that down to about 48 hours then you would be onto a winner, but please note this would be in good controled conditions,
